Ben Evans is sick of your shit. LA1TV harasses him in his workplace

Ben Evans has responded to the petition calling for a Vote of No Confidence in himself for his role on the Student's Union as VP Activities. He released a statement on Facebook last night, 21st October, stating that he will be taking "temporary leave" from his post. This comes after LA1TV entered the Student's Union, Ben's place of work, to confront him and asked for a comment or statement on his perceived lack of transparency and effort towards his job. Ben didn't give a statement at that time but the Student Media group still followed him and relentlessly asked him for a comment despite him paying no interest towards them. A video of this can be found on the LA1TV Facebook Page. In his post, Ben also suggests that this VNC petition and the scrutiny is more so to do with The Sugarhouse campaign, and not to do with his overall performance as the VP Activities. For those who don't know, Ben has been subject to scrutiny after it was leaked that he may have voted in favour of selling The Sugarhouse, a decision that was wildly unpopular with the majority of the students at Lancaster. Ben has yet to comment or confirm this but it hardly matters.

Moreover, LUSU has been the subject of mass scrutiny regarding the "Sugarhouse debate" and their decision to sell The Sugarhouse, which doesn't appear to have come to any conclusion yet, but people still take the piss, which is fine, but are acting like it's the end of the world, which it's not... yet. A post was made to the popular Lancaster-based Confessions page on Facebook "Lancfessions" suggesting that "Everybody needs to attend the LUSU AGM!". Which will obviously gather a lot of attention, and has done, but people won't turn up, because nobody really gives a shit. The post suggested that LUSU were "sneaky in not advertising the AGM this year", which isn't true as they have posted about it on their Facebook page and have created a Facebook event for it, which has already gathered hundreds of responses to it. The post states that LUSU have booked a "small lecture theatre" which is George Fox Lecture theatre 1, which is one of (if not) THE biggest lectures theatres available on campus. LUSU usually have their AGM in the great hall, however, due to the University being over-subscribed, it is unavailable to use at this current time. LUSU have ultimately had little option other than to change to this particular lecture theatre, yet have still come under scrutiny despite this.

In conclusion, it appears that in some cases there are people clutching at straws with some of their points regarding this whole situation. LUSU are, and probably always will be, pretty fucking useless in almost every situation, and they will always find a way to cock it up, which will always frustrate the student body. The VNC petition is very harsh certainly this point in the year and the witch hunting for Ben and LUSU for the smallest things is a bit ridiculous. If Ben is shit at his job, then fairs, but he seems to be doing it reasonably okay from the outside, but no one really gives a shit about LUSU anyway until it suits them. Funnily enough this is a time that suits them as Sugar is potentially closing. Is it bad timing? Who knows.
